This year’s pumpkin portrait is titled “Warts and All” because of the depth of beauty we find when we choose to see and embrace something’s “flaws.” these cosmetic imperfections are what drew me to begin painting pumpkins 3 years ago. They’re kinda weird! So imperfect and full of color. Pumpkins simply make me smile.
Additionally gracing this portrait is a Yellow Garden Spider or “writing spider.” She weaves beautiful circular webs among the gourds and is quite helpful eliminating pests from gardens. However, as a large and brightly colored spider (commonly misconceived as dangerous to humans) I wonder in how many home gardens she actually finds herself welcome.
