Little Windows to Heaven | A Diptych
two, 11” x 14” oil paintings, framed — NOT sold separately
Have you ever noticed the subtle beauty of the colors in the human eye? If our souls are reflected in our eyes, and heaven is the place where our immortal being flourishes in community with God, I can’t imagine what beauty awaits us!
The Kingdom of Heaven is close, accessible - a dynamic reality through the person of Jesus Christ.
I think of times when I have felt closest to what I imagine heaven to be like. I think of the moments where I felt most present with Father, Son and Spirit; a mysterious, vibrant, and peaceful place —
and I think of God’s people. All of His people.
I believe there are glimpses of heaven when we experience people at their best; see them extending love and grace and compassion to each other. Until our souls reach heaven, they have a place on earth, and we see them when we look in each other’s eyes.
This diptych was created to reference my two personal spaces for experiencing the nearness of heaven here on earth - my relationship with Christ and the times I’ve witnessed the best of the human spirit. These paintings don’t have answers or any profound insight, they are meant to be a reflection of the mystery and gratitude for these little windows to heaven we are given.
The colors used in these pieces are all colors I’ve seen in the eyes of others.
