Autumn Gets Her First Amber Pendant (2022)

This little one celebrates the first time we see that glimmer of amber among the endless array of green. I love the first changed leaf of the season. This little overlooked, seemingly insignificant thing is THE moment. It’s the first sign of all the hope, new life, joyous, bold and courageous moments that come to us during Autumn.

The first leaf of autumn is the reason I started the Fall Smalls collection. I want to hold the powerful fleeting seconds of this season. The seconds that always rejuvenate us without fail.

About this year’s fall smalls: I have found it difficult to put into words, just what it is about Fall that makes the spirit thrive; just how the colors, sounds, textures and feelings seem to bring it new life. The world feels big and bright and full as the season transitions. For me, I found that the moments that make this season feel multitudinous we actually quite small - Moments that if you’re not paying attention, you could miss.

This year, I am launching the first “Fall Smalls” collection. It is an annual release of small oil paintings under 10” that hope to capture and preserve our beloved impressions of the Autumn season. Like an insect beautifully preserved in amber, these small expressions rest under blankets of epoxy resin as flecks of gold dance between them. How fleeting and precious are our favorite seconds during the season that glimmers?
