LAUREN BRUMBACH EBERSOLE

BIOGRAPHY

Lauren Brumbach knew at a very young age that her life would be one of wonder and imagination. She grew up in a sleepy little farm town where the endearing simplicity and beauty found in its humble nooks, moves her to create.

While earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Art and Art History, Lauren studied in Perugia, Italy. Her focus was on traditional painting techniques and the impact Art had on history. 

She then moved to Philadelphia where she completed her Master’s Degree in Museum Exhibition Planning + Design. Lauren studied under influential instructors whose ability to look at the world upside down and marvel at its possibility evolved her own perspective and transformed her art practice. 

Through all creative avenues along which Lauren has served, it remains a goal in her career to share the positive impact Art has on the human spirit. 

Lauren’s work has been awarded and exhibited in public and private galleries across the U.S. She has also been featured in national and global magazines such as AllSHEMakes Magazine and Art and Color 365. Her work can be found year-round at CalvART Gallery in Prince Frederick, MD and St. Mary’s County Art Council’s Gallery in Leonardtown, MD. Lauren also served as the lead publication designer for the women’s art directory, AllSHEMakes for 3 years.

Lauren lives and works in Maryland as a full-time painter.

ARTIST STATEMENT

My choice to work in oil paint stems from a desperate desire to honor and preserve the movement, sound, color and life around me. Its depth of color and the nature of its slow drying time elevate the overarching story of my abstract and realistic work — to pay attention and be present in still moments. I find that some of the most impactful experiences we have are made up of small, ephemeral glimmers. My work pauses those passing movements in our lives and grants them time to breathe in silence. Whether that materializes as a plate of waffles filling the day with humble praise, or slowly letting the challenges of life soften our hard edges; the colors and gestures of my work invite the viewer to allow the reality of the present moment. Painting asks me to discern life, to process experience and to share beauty. A piece’s resting place is for the viewer, to ask them to wonder, to feel and to be.
