Linda's Kitchen

This piece took me to some of the most fascinating and most comforting places. The hills and valleys on the peels of oranges, lemons that contains immense subtly in their yellows and a vase that’s seen generations grow up around this table she lives on. This humble plate of fruit is so commonplace, so ordinary so familiar and yet I’ve spent months contemplating the complexity of feelings it’s given me.

There is a beauty in a mother and grandmother’s kitchen table that’s almost impossible to describe. It’s brilliance is in the way it knows what you need. Flowers? There. Dessert? There. Someone to sit with? There. It’s character’s in every wrinkle and stain of a table cloth preserving memories we didn’t know would matter after they passed.

Linda’s Kitchen is for all the children, grandchildren, husbands, wives.. families who are missing that kitchen table. That kitchen table where we shared laughter, tears, and our lives.
